Other Trailer Driving Restrictions

Trailers must not be towed on the outside lane of a three (or more) lane motorway or dual carriageway unless unavoidable owing to roadworks, accident or other obstruction.

Passengers should not be carried on or in a trailer.

Rear view mirrors must be adequate to allow the driver to view the road behind the trailer on both sides. This may necessitate the fitting of supplementary mirrors which must not project more than 200mm outside the width of the trailer or the towing vehicle when driven without the trailer.
